MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Augustana won at four weight classes Friday, but forfeited at the first two and suffered three losses by fall, as Cornell defeated the Vikings 34-16 at Small Multi-Sport Center. Coach Tony Willaert's crew dropped to 1-4 on the season, while the Rams improved to 4-6.
 
After falling behind 12-0 with forfeits at 125 and 133, Augustana got six back when senior Travis Pulse (Assumption HS, Milan, Ill.) pinned Klayton Keller in 1:41 at 141. Pulse improved to 13-6 on the year.
 
Sophomore Daniel Terronez (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) and senior Freddy Terranova (Jackson Memorial HS, Jackson, N.J.) got the Vikings even at 12-12, winning decisions at 149 and 157, respectively. Terronez moved to 13-6 with an 8-3 win over Austin Thomas and Terranova improved to 7-4, downing Casey Allen by a score of 8-4.
 
Ninth-ranked 165-pounder Ben Hewson gave Cornell back the lead, pinning sophomore Frankie Faasen (Manasquan HS, Lake Como, N.J.) in 1:58 and Wylie Allen extended the Rams' advantage to 24-12 with a pin (1:43) of junior T.J. Lunney (Conant HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) at 174.
 
At 184, freshman Hunter Holdcraft (La Salle-Peru HS, Seatonville, Ill.) dropped an 18-7 major decision to Bryce Oveson and at 197, Kendale McCoy won by fall at 6:18 over sophomore Triston Richardson (North Scott HS, McCausland, Iowa).
 
Junior Adarios Jones (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.), the nation's third-ranked 285-pounder, bumped his record to 14-0 with a 16-7 major decision over Chris Lyons to account for the final.
 
Augustana is in action next at the NWCA National Duals on January 4-5.
