ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior Adarios Jones (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) was the lone winner for Augustana in the season-opening dual meet for the Vikings on Wednesday, November 14 in the Carver Center. North Central won nine of the 10 weight classes in dealing Augustana a 40-3 defeat.
 
Jones won his bout at 285 pounds by a score of 4-0 over Audel Ochoa. Jones, who is now 6-0 on the season, picked an escape, two stalling points called on Ochoa and a point for riding time.
 
North Central won the first nine weight classes before Jones ended the evening with his victory.
 
The Cardinals' Ian Mullen opened things up with a pin at 1:27 of the 125 pound weight class against freshman Ben Gruenstein (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and then Moe Mitchell won a narrow 6-4 decision against Viking freshman Tristan Curtis (Vista Peak HS, Aurora, Colo.) at 133.
 
Augustana senior Dale Charlier (Cary Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) fell 6-3 to Marc Fleenor at 141 and senior Travis Pulse (Davenport Assumption HS, Milan, Ill.) lost 5-0 to Anthony Rink at 149. At 157 the Cardinals Rafael Roman beat sophomore Daniel Terronez (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) 12-4.
 
North Central had pins at 165 and 197 sandwiched around a major decision at 174 and a technical fall at 184 before Jones beat Ochoa at 285.
 
Augustana is now 0-1 on the season while North Central is 3-0. The Vikings will be in action again on November 29 with a double dual against Central Iowa and Simpson with the action in the Carver Center starting at 6:30 p.m.
