Senior Gabrielle Ainsworth finished second in the 100 butterfly as the Vikings
defeated St. Ambrose 136-101 on Friday night in Davenport, Iowa.
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Youth was definitely served in Augustana's season opening women's swimming and diving victory over St. Ambrose on Friday, October 5 at Davenport Central High School in Davenport, Iowa. The Vikings of head coach
Dan Lloyd swamped the Queen Bees 136-101 and four freshmen won individual events on the night.
Augustana won a total of eight events, six individual and two relays and both of the victorious relay teams were made up entirely of freshmen.
The 200 medley relay team started thing off with a victory in the first event of the night and first year students
Aviana Zahara (Pleasant Valley HS, Moline, Ill.),
Madelynn Marunde (Belvidere North HS, Belvidere, Ill.),
Lauren Raike (Alamo Heights HS, San Antonio, Texas) and
Isabelle Seten (Champaign Centennial HS, Champaign, Ill.) made up that unit and swam a time of 1:51.99. Closing out the night was the 400 freestyle relay team of Zahara, Seten, fellow freshman
Alicia Garcia (Seminole HS, Lake Mary, Fla.) and Marunde and that quartet clocked a time of 3:43.49.
Individually Garcia won the 200 freestyle in 2:01.50 and the 500 freestyle in 5:31.51. Seten took the 50 freestyle in :25.48 and Zahara won the 100 backstroke in :59.99. Still another freshman,
Lauren Raike (Alamo Heights HS, San Antonio, Texas) was a double winner in the 200 individual medley (2:13.84) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.47). Marunde picked up a second place in the 100 freestyle in :57.90.

Grace O'Shea (Sacred Heart Griffin HS, Springfield, Ill.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:07.39 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:54.42. Junior

Emma Gannaway (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) took third in the three meter diving with 104.75 points.
Augustana will be in action again on Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carver Center with a dual meet against Knox and Millikin.
