Freshman Sierra Erke helped
Augustana split two matches
at the Washington University
Invitational Saturday and was
rewarded with a spot on the all-
tournament team.
The Vikings fell in three sets to Wisconsin-Oshkosh before coming back for a three-set win over Wisconsin-Platteville. Freshman Sierra Erke (Quincy HS, Quincy, Ill.) was named to the all-tournament team. Coach Kelly Bethke's Vikings are now 11-10 on the season and take on North Park in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m.

UW-OSHKOSH 3, AUGUSTANA 0 (25-19; 26-24; 25-23)

The Titans (10-10) captured the first set 25-19 before nipping Augustana 26-24 and 25-23 in games two and three.

Junior Grace Bialobok had match highs of 11 kills and four blocks for the Vikings. Seniors Taryn Van Earwage (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) and Emily Uglem (Moorhead HS, Moorhead, Minn.) added nine and eight, respectively. Freshman Olivia Doak (Crystal Lake Central HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) led Augustana with 13 assists, two more than senior McKenzie Zambrano (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.). Junior Madi Glatz (Morton HS, Morton, Ill.) had a team-high 10 digs.

UWO sported a very balanced attack, with six players posting at least half a dozen kills. Taylor Allen led the way with eight. Emma Kiekhofer led the Titans with 20 assists and a pair of service aces. Rachel Gardner posted a match-high 17 digs and Kendall Enyart equaled Bialobok's four blocks.

AUGUSTANA 3, UW-PLATTEVILLE 0 (25-16; 25-20; 25-21)

After losing the first point of the match, the Vikings claimed the next four and never looked back. A Brooke Harmon (Lindbergh HS, St. Louis, Mo.) ace gave them the lead for good at 2-1. Set point in a 25-16 Augustana win came on a Bialobok kill off a set from junior Brooke Keegan (Hall HS, Ladd, Ill.). The final margin matched the largest of the game.

UW-Platteville (7-14) took a 6-3 lead in set two, but Bethke's bunch rallied, eventually going up 8-7 on a Harmon kill. The Vikings took the lead for good at 10-9 on a Pioneer attack error and won the next six points as well. VanEarwage had a pair of aces and Erke two kills in the spurt. UWP would cut the deficit to four on three occasions, but committed a service error to give Augustana set point in a 25-20 win.

Sophomore Savana Sparks (Maroa-Forsyth HS, Maroa, Ill.) got the Vikings off on the right foot with a kill to start game three and they would lead wire-to-wire in a 25-21 win. Another kill from Harmon gave Augustana its largest margin at 12-5. Kaite Asche had two kills as Platteville answered with a 4-0 run that cut the deficit to three. The Pioneers would eventually trim it to one on three occasions (19-18, 20-19 and 21-20), but could never pull even and the Vikings took four of the last five points. Match point came on a Platteville attack error.

Erke led Augustana with nine kills. Doak had 15 assists. Three Vikings reached double figures in digs, led by Glatz's match-best 17 and Bialobok and Uglem were each in on three blocks. Glatz also delivered a pair of aces.

Olivia Kudronowicz had 10 kills for the Pioneers, but had 12 errors in 35 swings. She also led UWP with 14 digs. Cassie Johnson dished out a match-high 20 assists. Asche was in on three blocks and Madie Sailors had two aces.
