Jon Miedema was named the CCIW "Coach of the Year" for the fourth time
in his career and senior Caitlyn Schaffer was the Most Outstanding Player
for the second straight season.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – After rolling to an undefeated regular season and to a 20 point victory in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament, it comes as no surprise that Augustana did very well in the all-conference voting by the league coaches. The Vikings landed three players on the all-conference team and won three of the four individual awards as well.

Senior Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) was a first team all-conference pick for the second straight time and was also the CCIW's Most Valuable Plyer for the second consecutive year. Schaffer was a second team all-conference selection in her sophomore season of 2016-17. This year she compiled a record of 11-4 in singles and was 15-2 in doubles. She won the CCIW title at number one singles and then teamed with fellow senior Madeline Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) to win the crown at number one doubles as well.

Sophomore Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) was a second team selection after she won the number two singles flight for the second year in a row. She also teamed with junior Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) to win the title at number two doubles. Tim was selected as the Championship MVP. She finished the season with a 15-3 record in singles and a 12-2 mark in doubles. A year ago Timm was also a first team all-conference selection.

Junior Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) was tabbed as a second team selection for the second straight year. She placed third in the CCIW at number three singles and was 15-3 on the season. She won the number two doubles championship with Timm as a partner and was 12-2 in doubles.

Head coach Jon Miedema was named the Coach of the Year after guiding the Vikings to a perfect 9-0 record in dual meets and the third CCIW title in the last four years. Miedema was also the CCIW Coach of the Year in 2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17 so this is his fourth honor.
