won in both singles and doubles Tuesday
as Augustana defeated North Central 7-2
in Naperville, Illinois.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Trailing 2-1 after the completion of doubles play, Augustana swept all six singles matches Tuesday to post a 7-2 win over North Central at the NCC Courts. Coach
Jon Miedema's men improved to 10-8 on the season and 4-1 in CCIW play. The host Cardinals dropped to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Juniors
Samuel Totten (University HS, Normal, Ill.) and
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) scored an 8-2 win over Alex Kohlmeier and Aleksandar Vasic at number one doubles, but North Central's second and third teams both posted 8-5 victories. Victor Krueger and Tyler Haizel defeated sophomore
Jack Morkin (Universiity HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and senior
Connor Woolf (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) and seniors
Nicholas Prabhakar (Rockford Lutheran HS, Belvidere, Ill.) and
Jonathon Elsey (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) fell to Connor Sass and Tyler Bussell.
In singles action, wins by Prabhakar, Woolf and Elsey put the Vikings back on top. Prabhakar was a 6-1, 6-2 victor over Bussell at number six. Woolf downed Sass 6-2, 6-1 at number three and Elsey bested Haizel 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles.
Pohl took care of Vasic four and three at number two and Totten scored a 6-1, 7-6 win over Krueger at number one. Freshman
Scott Daluga (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) closed out Augustana's singles sweep with a 7-6, 0-6, 10-8 win over Adam Winters at number five.
