MOLINE, Ill. – Augustana got off to a positive start in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opener in men's tennis on Saturday, March 25 at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Illinois. The Vikings knocked off Elmhurst 9-0 and moved their overall record to 6-7 on the year.
Juniors
Samuel Totten (University HS, Normal, Ill.) and
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) continued their strong doubles play with an 8-6 win over Kyle Endicott and Jackson Lindquist at number one. Sophomore
Jack Morkin (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and senior
Connor Woolf (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) beat Brandon Fulmer and Kevin Osburn 8-2 at number two doubles. The number three team of senior
Jonathon Elsey (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) and
David Gunther Treis (Brookfield Central HS, Brookfield, Wis.) beat Grant O'Connell and David Wilson 8-2.
Totten defeated Endicott 6-3; 6-2 at number one and Pohl took care of Fulmer 6-0; 6-0 at number two. Morkin beat Lindquist 6-2; 6-1 at number three with Woolf taking the measure of Osburn 7-5; 6-2 at number four. Senior
Nicholas Prabhakar (Rockford Lutheran HS, Belvidere, Ill.) beat O'Connell 6-1; 7-6 and sophomore
Alex Riddle (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) defeated Wilson 6-2; 6-1.
Augustana will be in action again on Sunday, April 2 with a match in the morning against Millikin in Decatur (9:30 a.m.) and one in the afternoon (3:00 p.m.) against Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Illinois.
