Vikings split duals versus WIAC programs

Senior Lauren Goggin won both of her singles matches Sunday,
including a straight-set win over the nation's fifth-ranked player,
as Augustana split duals with UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater.
The Vikings defeated UWO 8-1 and fell to the 19th-ranked
Warhawks by the same score.

Augustana ventured to Wisconsin on Sunday and split two dual meets with Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference programs. Playing without number two player Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.), the Vikings took care of UW-Oshkosh 8-1, but fell to 19th-ranked UW-Whitewater by the same score. Coach Jon Miedema's squad is now 16-2 in dual meet competition this year. Augustana is in action next versus Lake Forest and St. Mary's at the Quad-City Tennis Club on Sunday, March 26.

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Vikings won all three doubles and the top five singles matches against the Titans.
 
Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Madeline Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) were 8-6 winners over Hannah Peters and Bailey Sagen at first doubles and Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) and Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) defeated Samantha Koppa and Alyssa Leffler 8-3 at number two. At number three, it was Kaitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) and Kelsey Snodgrass (Oswego HS, Montgomery, Ill.) scoring an 8-6 win over Lesley Kutnink and Ashlee Polena.
 
In singles, Lauren Goggin was a two and love winner over Sagen at number one, Schaffer won 6-3, 6-2 over Leffler at number two and Badawi defeated Peters 6-2, 6-3 at number three. At fourth singles, Andonova bested Kutnink 6-3, 7-5 and Lombardi won three and four over Koppa at number five. Snodgrass suffered Augustana's lone setback, falling two and one to Monica Micoliczyk.
 
UW-WHITEWATER 8, AUGUSTANA 1
 
JANESVILLE, Wis. – The highlight of the Vikings' loss to the Warhawks was Lauren Goggin's victory at first singles. She scored a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win over the nation's fifth-ranked player, Megan Humphreys.
 
Whitewater won the rest of the singles matches. Bridgid McGuire won 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) over Schaffer at number two and Alexandra Talyansky was a one and three winner over Badwai at number three. At fourth singles, Jillian Wallace bested Andonova love and one and Alicia Beck defeated Lombardi 6-0, 6-4 at number five. Snodgrass lost love and love to Brittany Goebel at sixth singles.
 
Lauren Goggin and Schaffer came closest to getting Augustana a doubles win. They fell 8-5 to Humphreys and McGuire at number one. Talyanksy and Wallace were 8-1 winners over Badawi and Andonova at second doubles and at number three, Lombardi and Snodgrass lost 8-1 to Beck and Goebel.
