MIDDLETON, Wis. – Augustana picked up victories from juniors
Samuel Totten (Normal University HS, Normal, Ill.) and
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) at first and second singles Saturday, but ultimately dropped a 7-2 decision to 17th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater at Hitters Sportsplex. The Vikings are now 5-7 in dual meet play this year. The Warhawks improved to 8-4.
At number one singles, Totten, now 7-4 on the season, outlasted Whitewater's Grant Thompson—ranked 22nd in the NCAA's Central Region—2-6, 7-6 (11-9), 1-0 (10-3). At number two, Pohl was a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) winner over Zane Navratil.
Warhawk Jimmy Englehart downed sophomore
Jack Morkin (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) one and two at third singles and Rory Calabria defeated senior
Connor Woolf (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) one and love at number four. Senior
Nicholas Prabhakar (Rockford Lutheran HS, Belvidere, Ill.) fell 6-0, 6-1 to Zach Wood at number five and freshman
Scott Daluga (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) suffered a 6-1, 6-0 setback to Lucas Monterroso at sixth singles.
In doubles play, Thompson and Englehart were 8-5 winners over Totten and Pohl at number one. Morkin and Woolf fell 8-1 to Calabria and Wood at number two and Navratil and Brandon Dechter bested Daluga and Prabhaker 8-1 at third doubles.
