Junior Kristin Schoenecker captured two individual second-place finishes
and swam on a second-place relay Saturday in Augustana's dual meet at
Carthage.
KENOSHA, Wis. – Junior
Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) claimed a pair of second-place individual finishes Saturday, and swam on a second-place relay as well, to pace Augustana in a dual meet with Carthage at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. The Lady Reds captured every event in handing the Vikings a 181-65 loss, their first in five dual meets this season.
In the 100 freestyle, Schoenecker finished second in :57.40, while sophomore Morgan Brockhouse
(Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) was third in :58.79. Schoenecker (1:06.56) also took second in the 100 butterfly.
With Schoenecker anchoring and Brockhouse leading off, Augustana was second in the 200 free relay. Gabrielle Ainsworth
(Hononegah HS, South Beloit, Ill.) and
Sara Hovren (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) swam legs two and three, respectively, for the Vikings, who clocked a1:46.09.
In the 50 fly, sophomore Patti Grod
(Glenbrook North HS, Northbrook, Ill.) was second in :28.97, just 1/100th of a second ahead of third-place Brockhouse.
Junior Rachel Heah
(Convent Green Lane HS, Penang, Malaysia) swam a 5:54.98 to finish second in the 500 freestyle and freshman Marissa Jaskae
(Waubonsie Valley HS, Aurora, Ill.) was third in 5:56.53. Senior Kelly Wingerson
(Rock Island HS, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) claimed a second as well, swimming a 2:35.92 in the 200 individual medley.
Brockhouse (2:10.95) recorded another third in the 200 freestyle. Sophomore Carissa Boerboom
(Rosemount HS, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) swam a :31.22 to finish third in the 50 backstroke and Hovren (:34.63) was third in the 50 breaststroke.
