Sophomore Rachel Heah won the 200-yard backstroke Saturday
in Augustana's dual-meet setback at Carthage.
Sophomore
Rachel Heah (Lockport HS, Bayan Lepas, Malaysia) delivered Augustana's top performance in Saturday's 206-77 loss at Carthage, winning the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:20.87.
Freshman
Chelsea Brandt (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) turned in a second-place effort of 2:57.77 in the 200 breaststroke.
In the 100 freestyle, senior
Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) and junior Sarah Hovren
(University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) finished second and third in :59.9 and 1:00.15, respectively. Sophomores
Mia Polinski (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) and
Victoria Frank (Hinsdale South HS, Willowbrook, Ill.) went 2-3 in the 500 freestyle. Polinski finished in 5:37.77 and Frank swam a 6:00.01.
The Viking 200 freestyle relay team of Hovren, junior
Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.), freshman
Patti Grod (Glenbrook North HS, Northbrook, Ill.) and Crawford was second in 1:45.66 and the 200 medley relay unit of Heah, Polinski, and freshmen Gabrielle Ainsworth
(Hononegah HS, South Beloit, Ill.) and
Morgan Brockhouse (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) took third in 1:58.38.
Third-place performances were turned in by Brockhouse in the 100 butterfly (1:05.50) and 50 freestyle (:25.59), Frank in the 1000 freestyle (12:17.44), Heah in the 100 backstroke (1:06.65), Polinski in the 200 butterfly (2:25.13), Schoenecker in the 200 backstroke (2:25.51), Ainsworth in the 200 individual medley (2:26.10) and sophomore
Ashley Comeau (Romeoville HS, Romeoville, Ill.) in one-meter diving (100.95).
Augustana is back in action at the Grinnell Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa on January 20-21.
