Senior
Kaycee Kallenberger (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) scored the first four points of the game, but a Bailey Gilbert three-pointer and a layup by Rachel Sydlowski put the hosts on top 5-4. The teams were tied at 10-all after Gilbert and junior
Victoria Allen (Eureka HS, Wildwood, Mo.) traded three-pointers, but an Autumn Kalis layup with 2:03 left in the first quarter put the Lady Reds back up. Madie Kaelber's three gave Carthage a 17-12 lead after one.
The margin reached nine (21-12) early in the second quarter before the Vikings put together a 10-2 run to draw to within 23-22. Sophomore
Izzy Anderson (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) had five points and an assist in the spree. However, nine straight Lady Red points pushed the advantage to double digits and the hosts eventually took a 34-26 lead to intermission.
Carthage led 40-30 with six minutes left in the third, when an
Olivia Mayer (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.) layup sparked a 13-1 Augustana run that gave the Vikings their first lead since the 6:10 mark of the first quarter.
