Senior Harald Olsson teamed with Austin Schoeck for a win at number three doubles
as Augustana defeated North Central 9-0 on Saturday, April 16 at the Lower Campus
Courts. Olsson also won at number four singles and number one doubles in the Vikings'
7-0 victory over Dubuque.ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana bounced back nicely from a 7-2 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire the night before to defeat North Central 9-0 on Saturday, April 16 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin action at the Lower Campus Courts. With the win the Vikings evened their overall record at 9-9 and moved to 2-1 in league play.
The night before, in a battle of regionally ranked teams (UW-Eau Claire was 17
th in the Central Region and Augustana was 19
th), the Vikings fell behind 2-1 after doubles and couldn't make up any ground in singles play. It was a lot different on Saturday morning when the home team rolled to a 3-0 lead after doubles and never looked back.
The sophomore duo of
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) and
Samuel Totten (University HS, Normal, Ill.) defeated Victor Krueger and Connor Sass 8-6 at number one. Junior
Connor Woolf (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) and freshman
Jack Morkin (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) took care of Aleksandar Vasic and Hayden Sass 8-5 at number two doubles. The Vikings' number three team of seniors
Austin Schoeck (Alleman Catholic HS, Rock Island, Ill.) and
Harald Olsson (Hersby Gymnasium, Stockholm, Sweden) beat Adam Winters and Alex Kohlmeier 8-2.
Augustana won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Senior
Patrick Lenz (Villanova Prep, Ojai, Calif.) was the lone Viking to play into the third set as he defeated Connor Sass 6-2; 2-6; 10-2 at number three.
Totten defeated Oliver Moews 6-0; 6-0 at number one and Pohl took care of Krueger 6-2; 6-4 at number two. Freshman
Carl Christensen (Hoellviken, Sweden) beat Vasic 6-1; 6-4 at number four. Morkin won 6-1; 6-2 over Winters at number five and Schoeck beat Cristobal Aria 6-2; 6-0 at number six.
In the second match on Saturday, April 16 at the Lower Campus Courts, Augustana easily dispatched an injury-depleted Dubuque squad by a score of 7-0. The Spartans had some injury problems and were only able to field five singles players and two doubles teams.
The Vikings shifted their lineup a bit in this match as senior

Carl Christensen (Hoellviken, Sweden) beat Justin Castro and Zebulon Hill 8-2. The number three doubles match was not played.
Pohl moved into the number one singles slot for this match and defeated Castro 6-2; 6-3. Senior
Patrick Lenz (Villanova Prep, Ojai, Calif.) beat Sablay 6-4; 6-3 at number two. Freshman
Jack Morkin (Normal University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) picked up a 6-4; 6-1 win over Hernandez at number three. Olsson beat Hill 6-1; 6-1 at number four and senior
John Alexander (Rockford Guilford HS, Loves Park, Ill.) defeated Alvaro Blanco 6-1; 6-4 at number five.
Augustana is now 10-9 on the season while Dubuque dropped to 3-14. The Vikings will host St. Ambrose on Tuesday, April 19 at 4:00 p.m.
