Sophomore Mollie Magee notched a career milestone on
Tuesday, April 12 against Cornell. With a 6-0; 6-0 win over
Shashanna Moll at number three singles she collected
her 100th career win combined (singles and doubles).
Magee is now 100-38 in her Augustana career.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – When the final ball dropped in Mollie Magee's (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) victory over Cornell's Shashanna Moll on Tuesday, April 12 at the Lower Campus Courts it pushed the talented left-hander into some elite company. Her 6-0; 6-0 win at number four singles was the 100th combined win in her young career at Augustana.

The Vikings had little trouble dispatching the Rams on a sun-splashed afternoon as they rolled to a 9-0 win to push their overall record to 20-6 on the season. There was little sign of any rust caused by a 10-day layoff between their last match which was a 5-4 win over 37th ranked Kalamazoo on Saturday, April 2 in Madison, Wisconsin. Augustana swept the doubles matches 3-0 and then won all six singles in straight sets. The Vikings only dropped 12 sets in the singles competition.

Magee entered the afternoon with 98 career (singles and doubles combined) victories. She started her day with a doubles victory, along with junior Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.), at number two. Magee and Goggin beat Julia Thorne and Gabriella Ferro 8-5.

With the two victories against Cornell, Magee now has a combined career record of 100-38 and she is the 24th player in Augustana history to reach the 100 victory milestone. Magee is 53-20 in singles and 47-18 in doubles action. This season she is 23-8 in singles and 21-7 in doubles.

Magee becomes the fourth player on the current team to eclipse the 100-victory plateau. The leader is currently senior Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) with 143 wins (143-64) while junior Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) is 132-54 and her twin sister Lauren Goggin is 131-60.

While Magee and Lauren Goggin were winning at number two doubles, freshman Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) and junior Amy Even (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) rolled to an 8-1 win at number three over Anne Seng and Janice Elkerton. The number one team of Dana Goggin and MacDonald had a tougher time of it before finally prevailing over Moll and Sophie Robertson by a score of 8-6.

Lauren Goggin beat Thorne 6-2; 6-3 at number one and pushed her record to 20-11 this year. Dana Goggin is now 19-8 after beating Robertson 6-1; 6-1 at number two. Magee's whitewash (6-0; 6-0) of Moll was not only the 100th win of her career but also gave her a 23-5 mark for the season.

MacDonald defeated Ferro 6-1; 6-1 at number four to move to 20-6 and Schaffer has a team high 25 wins (25-5) after beating Gracie Benton 6-0; 6-2. Junior Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) handled Elkerton 6-0; 6-1 at number six and is 17-6 this year.

The Vikings will travel to Michigan this Saturday, April 16 to take on Hope at 9:00 a.m. in Holland and Aquinas at 3:00 p.m. in Grand Rapids.
