doubles as the Vikings beat St. Mary's 9-0 on Saturday,
March 19 in South Bend, Indiana.Augustana, ranked 15
th in the NCAA Division III Central Region, won a pair of 9-0 decisions on Saturday, March 19 in a unique road double header. Head coach
Jon Miedema took his team to South Bend, Indiana in the morning for a match with St. Mary's and finished the day in Lake Bluff, Illinois for a contest against Lake Forest. Both matches ended with the Vikings on top 9-0.
Augustana is currently 17-4 on the season and will be in action again on March 24 in Cedar Rapids for a battle with Coe.

MARY'S 0 Vikings roll over St. Mary's 9-0 to move to 16-4 SOUTH BEND, Indiana – Augustana started an unusual double header on Saturday, March 19 with a convincing 9-0 win over St. Mary's in South Bend, Indiana. The Vikings are also scheduled to play at Lake Forest in Lake Forest, Illinois later on in the day.
On the way to moving its record to 16-4 on the season, head coach
Jon Miedema's team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles and then rolled to six straight victories in singles over a St. Mary's team that is 6-3 on the year.
The number three team of freshmen
Madeline Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) and
Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) had a close call but finally prevailed 9-8 over Andrea Fetters and Kaity Venters. In the other two doubles matches the Vikings won easily. Junior
Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and senior
Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) beat Monica Davy and Sam Setterblad 8-0 at number one. At number two it was junior
Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and sophomore
Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) taking care of Margaret Faller and Maddie Minaudo 8-3.
Lauren Goggin beat Fetters 6-3; 6-2 at number one singles while her twin sister
Dana Goggin defeated Davy 6-2; 6-2 at number two. MacDonald took care of Faller by a score of 6-1; 6-3 at number three and Schaffer beat Setterblad 6-1; 6-3 at number four.
Junior
Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) won at number five by a score of 7-5; 6-4 against Minaudo and Lombardi beat Venters 6-2; 6-2 at number six.
03/19/16 – AUGUSTANA 9, LAKE FOREST 0 Vikings blank Lake Forest 9-0 in battle of regionally ranked teams LAKE BLUFF, Illinois – After beating St. Mary's earlier in the day, Miedema packed up his team and headed for the northern suburbs of Chicago and a battle with Lake Forest. The Foresters were 13-3 coming into the match and tanked 20
th in the Central Region. The Vikings, ranked 15
th in the Central region, came away with an impressive 9-0 win to move to 17-4 on the year.
In doubles play Augustana won all three to come away with a 3-0 lead but the scores at numbers one and two were close.
Dana Goggin and MacDonald won 8-6 over Christi Valicenti and Grace Dowling at number one while
Lauren Goggin and Magee beat Allison Watts and Lucia Stumbras 8-6 at number two. Schaffer and Lombardi beat Alex Kopish and Whitney Navarro 8-0 at number three.
Lauren Goggin won 6-3; 6-0 over Valicenti at number one singles and
Dana Goggin took care of Dowling 7-5; 6-3 at number two. Magee beat Watts 6-2; 6-0 at number three and MacDonald handled Stumbras 6-1; 6-2 at number four. Schaffer scored a 6-0; 6-0 win over Kopish at number five and Andonova beat Navarro by the same 6-0; 6-0 score at number six.
