A second period slump, which saw Augustana net just two points, was the main culprit for head coach
Mark Beinborn's team.

Things didn't get any better for the Vikings in the second period as the Lady Reds enjoyed a 17-2 advantage to take a 38-15 lead at halftime.
That lead grew to 25 points when Monica Masini scored a basket with 7:10 left in the third to make it 44-19 in favor of Carthage.

Victoria Allen (Eureka HS, Wildwood, Mo.) hit a pair of free throws with 4:11 left in the game the margin was down to just three points (62-59).
Carthage fought off the challenge, however as Augustana missed five of its next six shots. The Lady Reds closed out the game by making six consecutive free throws.

Sadie Roberts (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.).
