Freshman Carl Christensen won both his singles and doubles
matches in the Vikings 6-3 win over Luther on Saturday,
February 13 at the Quad City Tennis Club. He also won a
singles match in Augustana's 9-0 win over Edgewood.MOLINE, Ill. – Augustana pushed its overall men's tennis record to 5-1 on the young season with two non-conference victories on Saturday, February 13 at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Illinois. The Vikings defeated Luther 6-3 in the first match of the day before coming back to beat Edgewood 9-0 later in the evening.
Sophomores
Samuel Totten (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) each won a total of four matches on the day. The two combined for a pair of victories at number one doubles and Totten won twice at number one singles while Pohl was two matches at number two singles.
Augustana's next match will be February 29 against Davenport University in Orlando, Florida.

In three of the four singles victories Augustana dropped the first set only to come back and win the next two. The lone exception to that was at number one where sophomore

Sophomore
Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) beat Luther's Trent Schneider 1-6; 6-2; 6-3 at number two. Freshman
Carl Christensen (Hoellviken, Sweden) didn't win a game in his first set but bounced back to defeat Nate Parsons at number four 0-6; 6-2; 6-2. Freshman
Jack Morkin (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) defeated Isaiah Mayerchak 3-6; 6-4; 7-5 at number five.
Senior
Patrick Lenz (Villanova Prep, Ojai, Calif.) fell to Anders Jensen at number three 4-6; 4-6 and senior
Austin Schoeck (Rock Island Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) lost to Sam Buffington 2-6; 5-7 at number six.
The Vikings jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles with Totten and Pohl defeating Appel and Schneider 8-5 at number one. Morkin and Christensen defeated Jensen and Jake Smith 8-6 at number two. Lenz and Schoeck dropped a 2-8 decision to Parsons and Mayerchak at number three.
Augustana is now 4-1 on the season while Luther, which is coached by former Viking head coach Adam Strand, fell to 2-2.
Win over Edgewood moves Augustana to 5-1 on the season MOLINE, Ill. – After beating Luther 6-3 on the strength of four three-set singles wins, the Vikings cruised to a win over Edgewood in the second match on Saturday, February 13 at the Quad City Tennis Center in Moline, Illinois. With the win Augustana moves to 5-1 on the year.
Edgewood was suffering from a shortened lineup and was only able to field four singles players and two doubles teams, giving the Vikings automatic wins at five and six singles and number three doubles.
Totten and Pohl defeated Brian Davenport and Evan Stone 8-1 at number one doubles while junior
Nicholas Prabhakar (Rockford Lutheran HS, Belvidere, Ill.) and junior
Jonathon Elsey (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) picked up an 8-4 win over Jaime Benvidas and Andrew Martinez at number two. The number three match was not played because Edgewood was unable to field a team.
Totten took care of Davenport at number one singles 6-0; 6-0 while Pohl beat Benvidas 6-1; 6-1 at number two. Christensen beat Martinez 6-0; 6-0 at number three and Morkin handled Alex Hadjev 6-1; 6-0 at number four.
