Vikings win 10 of 11 events during victory at Monmouth

Freshman Morgan Brockhouse won the 50 and 100 freestyle events on 
Friday, November 18 in Monmouth and also added a leg to the Vikings
winning 200 medley relay as Augustana beat the Fighting Scots 153-46.

It was a resounding victory for the Augustana women's swimming & diving team on Friday, November 18 when the Vikings defeated Monmouth 153-46 in the Fighting Scots own pool. Head coach Dan Lloyd's team won 10 of the 11 events in moving its record to 3-0 on the season.
 
Freshman Morgan Brockhouse (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.), junior Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) and sophomore Mia Polinski (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) were all individual double winners for Augustana.
 
Brockhouse won the 50 freestyle (:26.03) and the 100 freestyle (:57.57). Schoenecker took the 200 freestyle (2:04.19) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.04) while Polinski won the 200 individual medley (2:23.36) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.05).
 
That trio also combined with freshman Gabrielle Ainsworth (Rockton Hononegah HS, South Beloit, Ill.) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:58.18 to open the meet successfully for the Vikings. Ainsworth picked up a win of her won when she claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:02.72 and was second in the 50 freestyle in :26.54.
 
Sophomore Victoria Frank (Hinsdale South HS, Willowbrook, Ill.) won the 500 freestyle in 6:03.02.
 
The 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Patti Grod (Glenbrook North HS, Northbrook, Ill.), freshman Sara Clark (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.), junior Sara Hovren (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and junior Nicole Olsen (Plainfield East HS, Romeoville, Ill.) ended the meet with a winning performance of 1:49.83. Grod placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:14.50) and Clark was third in the 500 freestyle (6:18.99). Hovren recorded second place finishes in both the 200 individual medley (2:26.81) and the 100 breaststroke (1:18.32) and Olsen was third in the 100 freestyle (:59.73).
 
Freshman Grace O'Shea (Sacred Heart Griffin HS, Springfield, Ill.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:24.52. Sophomore Rachel Heah (Lockport HS, Bayan Lepas, Malaysia) was second in the 200 freestyle (2:13.55) and third in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.17. Freshman Carissa Boerboom (Rosemount HS, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.73) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:27.23).
 
Sophomore Taylor Campbell (Tuscola HS, Tuscola, Ill.) was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.53 and sophomore Kelly Wingerson (Rock Island HS, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) finished third in the 50 freestyle with a time of :27.40.
