The Augustana women's volleyball team put the finishing touches on a fine 25-8 season with a pair of victories on Saturday, October 29 at the Pumpkin Bash in the Carver Center. The Vikings beat Central College 3-2 (25-18; 25-27; 25-22; 23-25; 15-11) in the first match of the day before coming back to beat Rockford 3-0 (25-7; 25-12; 25-23) in the nightcap.
Head coach
Kelly Bethke's team was 3-1 in the Pumpkin Bash and the 25 wins is the most for an Augustana team since Liesl Fowler's CCIW co-champions of 2001 compiled a 29-5 record.

Win over Rockford wraps up 25-8 season for the Vikings
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana cruised to a 3-0 win over Rockford in the final match of both the Pumpkin Bash Tournament and the 2016 season for the Vikings. Head coach
Kelly Bethke's team defeated the Regents 25-7; 25-12; 25-23 and wrapped up a 3-1 outing in the Pumpkin Bash and a 25-8 overall record for the year.
The Vikings spread things around in the final match of the year with seniors
Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich, Ill.) and
Rachel Butter (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) sharing the team lead in kills with six apiece. Butter also chipped in with seven digs. Sophomore
Victoria Biggerstaff (Broomfield HS, Broomfield, Colo.) had five kills with 10 digs and three service aces.
Senior
Amber Hopf (Manteno HS, Manteno, Ill.) led the team with five service aces and she also had three kills, one dig and one block assist. Senior
Jacqueline Kibir-Evans (Trinity HS, Forest Park, Ill.) put the finishing touches on her career with four kills, two block solos and one service ace.
Senior
Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) led the team in setting assist with 18 while also getting seven digs, a dig and a service ace. Sophomore
Sierra Rood (Lena-Winslow HS, Lena, Ill.) topped the Vikings in digs with 18.

Vikings knock off Dutch in five sets to move to 24-8 on the year
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior
Emily Westermeyer (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) exploded for 19 kills to help lead the way as Augustana defeated Central of Iowa 3-2 (25-18; 25-27; 25-22; 23-25; 15-11) in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday, October 29 at the Pumpkin Bash in the Carver Center. Westermeyer was one of three Vikings who ended in double figures in kills as third-year head coach
Kelly Bethke's team moved to 24-8 on the year.
Westermeyer established a career high for herself with her 19 kills and she also added 24 digs with two blocking assists, one service ace and one setting assist. She got offensive help from sophomore
Taryn VanEarwage (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) with 14 kills and senior
Jacqueline Kibir-Evans (Trinity HS, Forest Park, Ill.), who had 10. Van Earwage had 26 digs, two setting assists, one service ace and one blocking assist. Kibir-Evans had seven total blocks (two solo and five assists) to go with her 10 kills.
Senior
Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) dished out 35 setting assists with 14 digs and three kills. She also added a service ace. Sophomore
McKenzie Zambrano (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) had 23 setting assists with 19 digs.
Junior
Claire Martin (Mother McAuley HS, Orland Park, Ill.) led the team in digs with 31. The Vikings also got eight kills out of senior
Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich, Ill.).
