NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After winning a second straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's tennis title last weekend in stunning fashion Augustana was rewarded when the league announced its post-season honors. Three Vikings were named to the all-conference team and head coach Jon Miedema was tabbed as the "Coach of the Year" for the second straight season.

Seniors Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and sophomore Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) were the players honored as all-conference by the CCIW.

Lauren Goggin was named first team for the fourth straight year while Dana Goggin was also named to the all-conference team for the fourth time in her career. She was a second team pick this year after being a first team selection as a sophomore and junior. During her freshman campaign in 2013-14 she was a second teamer. Schaffer makes the all-conference team for the first time in her career.

Lauren Goggin was named the CCIW "Player of the Year" after she won the number one singles title with a 7-6; 6-4 win over number one seed Katie Park of Wheaton. Goggin was the number three seed entering the tournament but she ripped off three straight wins to take the title. She is the second Augustana player to win "Player of the Year", joining Kim Sawyer, who won the award twice (2012 & 2013). Goggin in the fifth number one singles champion in Viking history. Jean Fraser won at number one in 1991, Brigette Morrow in 1993, Sarah Ainsworth won three times at number one (1994, 1996 & 1997) and Sawyer did it twice (2012 & 2013).

She finished the fall portion of the season with a 16-4 overall record in singles and a 10-5 mark in doubles. She has a career record of 83-38 in singles and 82-35 in doubles with a combined mark of 165-73. She is currently second on the school's all-time list in singles wins and third in both doubles and combined victories.

Dana Goggin placed second in the CCIW in both singles (number two) and doubles (number one). She is currently 13-3 in singles and 16-3 in doubles play and she won conference titles at number two singles in both 2014-15 and 2015-16 and took a doubles crown at number one as a junior.

Dana Goggin is the school record holder for career doubles wins with 88 (88-34) and she is 78-30 in singles for third on that all-time list. Her combined record of 166-64 is third on the Vikings' all-time list.

Schaffer won the CCIW title at number three singles and was second in number one doubles with Dana Goggin as a partner. She has a 16-4 singles record and a 14-2 doubles mark following the fall season. Her career record is a sterling 91-19 combined and she is 47-9 at singles and 44-10 at doubles.

Miedema has been the CCIW "Coach of the Year" three times in his career (2013, 2015 and now 2016). His dual meet record with the Augustana women is a sparkling 107-45 overall and 31-8 in conference play.

Last weekend was the sixth CCIW women's tennis title for Augustana. The Vikings won in 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2015. The title gives Miedema's team the host spot for the CCIW's automatic qualifying tournament in the spring where the top four teams from the tournament (Augustana, Wheaton, Carthage and Carroll) will get together in a dual meet format to determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Augustana is currently 10-1 in dual meets and will resume play in February with a spring break trip to Orlando, Florida.
