3-1 loss at North Central on Tuesday, September 29.NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Augustana fell in its second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin volleyball match of the season to North Central on Tuesday, September 29 in Naperville, Illinois. The Vikings lost the first two sets with scores of 23-25 and 20-25. They rallied in the third, producing a 25-20 victory over the Cardinals before dropping the fourth 15-25. Augustana is now 1-1 in conference play and 7-7 on the season.
Looking to break the Cardinals 2-0 lead after the first two sets, the Vikings were unable to generate any momentum in game four after winning the third set 25-20. North Central went on an early run snatching the first two games by margins of two and five respectively. Gaining a win in the third helped Augustana regain some momentum, but the Vikings fell in the fourth, losing 15-25.
Junior
Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich) led the team in kills with 12. Right behind her senior
Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) chipped in 11 for the Vikings. Rounding things out, juniors
Jacqueline Kibir-Evans (Trinity HS, River Forest, Ill.) and
Amy Kalkhoff (Clear Creek Amana HS, North Liberty, Ill.) each added eight of their own.
Junior
Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) was credited with 24 assists on the night, while senior setter
Jordan Hampel (Hilliard-Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) followed with 22 and 10 digs.
Defensively, senior
Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) recorded 17 digs for the Vikings.
North Central was led on the offense by Julie Laugel with 18 kills. Laura Kluk had 50 assists for the Cardinals.
The Vikings will see action next against Monmouth on Thursday, October 1 at the Carver Center at 7:00 p.m.
