Sophomore DeJaneria Hartsfield won in both singles and
doubles as Augustana defeated Knox 9-0 on Wednesday
in Galesburg, Illinois.Displaying impressive depth, the Augustana women's tennis team split its squad on Wednesday, September 9 and came away with a pair of dominating victories. The Vikings of head coach
Jon Miedema defeated Knox 9-0 in a non-conference match in Galesburg, Illinois and also beat Millikin by an identical 9-0 score in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin action at home at the Lower Campus Courts.
With the two wins Augustana moved its record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW. The Vikings are now idle until facing Carthage in a crucial conference tilt on Friday, September 18 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. That match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) stepped into the number one position and won at both singles and doubles. She defeated Taytem Chapman 6-2; 6-0 in singles and then teamed with junior
Amy Even (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) at number one doubles to beat Chapman and Melissa Smith 8-3. Even played third singles and beat Savannah Sailors 6-0; 6-1.
Sophomore
Rachel Kammerzelt (The Prairie School, Union Grove, Wis.) slid into the number two slot and beat Emily Miller 6-1; 6-1. She teamed up with senior
Lauren Kaczmarek (Glenbard South HS, Lombard, Ill.) at second doubles to beat Miller and Miranda Corbett 8-0. Kaczmarek defeated Corbett 6-1; 6-2 at number five singles.
Sophomore
Macy Koepke (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) defeated Smith at number four singles 6-0; 6-0 while sophomore
DeJaneria Hartsfield (Metea Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) beat Lauren Sparks 6-0; 6-2 at number six. Koepke and Hartsfield teamed up at number three doubles to beat Sailors and Maddie Schacht 8-6.

Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and senior
Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) handled the number one doubles position and upped their record to 4-1 on the season with an 8-2 win over Melissa Donovan and Molly Angell. The number two team of junior
Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) beat Taylor Stanchin and Paige Bequette 8-4 at number two doubles. At number three the freshman team of
Madeline Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) and
Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) beat Madeline Delano and Amber Morgan 8-0.
After the clean sweep in doubles, Augustana won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Lauren Goggin beat Stanchin 6-0; 6-2 at number one to move to 6-1 on the year and
Dana Goggin beat Bequette 6-0; 6-1 at number two and is now 5-0. Magee stayed perfect on the season as she upped her mark to 7-0 with a 6-2; 6-0 win over Angell at number three.
MacDonald is now 3-0 after her 6-0; 6-1 win over Donovan at number four and Schaffer stands at 5-0 after beating Morgan 6-0; 6-1 at number five. Lombardi is also 5-0 thanks to her 6-2; 6-2 win over Delano at number six.
