Head Coach Jon Miedema's Augustana women's tennis team earned the program's first-ever
NCAA Tournament berth with a 5-4 win over Wheaton Saturday at the CCIW AQ Tournament in
Hanover Park, Illinois.

HANOVER PARK, Ill.  – Freshman Mollie Magee's (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) win at third singles Saturday clinched a 5-4 win for Augustana over Wheaton in the finals of the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament at Centre Court Athletic Club. The victory, which avenged an 8-1 loss to the Thunder in September, clinched the Vikings' first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. Coach Jon Miedema's squad improves to 23-8 in dual meet play this season, extending its program record for wins.

Augustana got off to a great start with victories at first and second doubles. Sophomore Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and junior Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) defeated Julie Buursma and Katie Park 8-6 at number one. Magee and sophomore Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) were 8-0 winners over Lauren Schlabach and Kirstie White at number two. At third doubles, Wheaton's Miranda Kay and Erika Nelson bested the Viking duo of senior Miranda Pence (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) and sophomore Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) 8-3.

In addition to Magee' 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over Schlabach, Miedema picked up singles victories from MacDonald at number four and Pence at number five. MacDonald defeated White love and love, while Pence was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Kay.
