Vikings improve to 14-3 with whitewash of St. Vincent

Senior Miranda Pence lost just one game in winning both her her singles and doubles matches
in Augustana's 9-0 win over St. Vincent Wednesday in Orlando, Florida.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augustana women's tennis team, ranked 16th in the Central Region, improved to 14-3 in dual meets this season with a 9-0 win over St. Vincent Wednesday. The Vikings lost a total of just 14 games in the nine matches.
 
Sophomores Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) opened with an 8-3 win over Jackii Hauser and Breana Liberoni at number on doubles. That would be as close as the Barcats would get in doubles, as Augustana's number two tandem of junior Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and freshman Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overalnd Park, Kan.) scored an 8-1 win over Anita Onufer and Hayle Lee and senior Miranda Pence (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) and sophomore Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) beat Sarah Selip and Lauren Campbell 8-0 at number three.
 
In singles play no St. Vincent player managed more than two wins in a set or four total. Lauren Goggin was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Hauser at number one and Dana beat Kylie Auman love and one at number two. At third singles, it was Magee winning love and love over Liberoni and MacDonald scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over Onufer at number four. Pence won 6-1, 6-0 over Lee at fifth singles and at number six, freshman Rachel Kammerzelt (Prairie School, Union Grove, Wis.) defeated Campbell 6-0, 6-1.
 
Coach Jon Miedema's squad was scheduled to take on Otterbein later in the afternoon.
