Senior Miranda Pence picked up a singles win in loss to regionally ranked Coe and a doubles
victory in win over St. Ambrose on Sunday, March 22 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Augustana women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference dual meets on Sunday, March 22 at the Clark Racquet Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Vikings dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Coe in a battle of regionally ranked teams before bouncing back with a 7-2 win over Quad City neighbor St. Ambrose.
Head coach
Jon Miedema's team is currently 16-5 overall and will host Principia and Lake Forest this Saturday, March 28 at the Lower Campus Courts. The Vikings will play Principia at 9:00 a.m. and Lake Forest at 3:00 p.m.
03/22/15 - COE 5, AUGUSTANA 4 After falling behind 3-0 coming out of doubles, Augustana rallied and nearly pulled out what would have been a stirring come-from-behind victory. Instead, Coe came out on top 5-4 in a battle between two regionally ranked teams. The Kohawks came into the match ranked 10
th in the Central Region while the Vikings were 16
th.
Down 3-0 after doubles, Augustana got wins in four of the six singles positions. Sophomore
Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) defeated Haley Resnick 6-0; 6-3 at number one. Her twin sister
Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) beat Amy Sebastian 6-1; 7-5 at number two.

Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) beat Laura Birky 6-2; 6-0 at number four and senior
Miranda Pence (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) took care of Sarah Lasecki 6-3; 6-1 at number five.
Freshman
Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) dropped a heartbreaking 7-6; 2-6; 4-6 three-setter at number three to Jordan Ferree. Sophomore
Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) lost to Diannah Watson 5-7; 4-6 at number six.
In doubles play the Goggin twins fell to Feree and Birky 8-2 at number one while MacDonald and Magee lost to Resnick and Lasecki 8-4 at number two. Pence and Andonova dropped an 8-4 decision at number three to Watson and Tamara Washington.
03/22/15 – AUGUSTANA 7, ST. AMBROSE 2 The Vikings bounced back nicely from the narrow loss to Coe with a resounding 7-2 win over St. Ambrose later on that same day in the Clark Racquet Center.
This time the Vikings got off to a 2-1 start in doubles as Miedema juggled the lineup a bit. He put
Lauren Goggin and Magee together at number one and they responded with an 8-3 win over Allie DeRoo and Emily Daniels. MacDonald and Pence combined at number two and beat Griffin Rasche and Sammy Carr 8-3.

Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) easily beat Samantha Rochus 6-0; 6-1 at second singles. Magee beat DeRoo 6-3; 6-0 at number three and MacDonald won at number four over Daniels by a score of 6-0; 6-3.

Rachel Kammerzelt (The Prairie School, Union Grove, Wis.) beat Carr 6-3; 6-1 at number five. At number six singles the Queen Bees' Anne Bohnert defeated freshman
