Olivia Mayer (Libertyville HS, Green Oaks, Ill.) nailed a pair of free throws to knot the game at 40-40 with 4:03 left. The Lady Reds scored the next 11 points to take command and with :29 remaining the score was 51-40 following two free throws from Kasey Kleiner.
Carthage led 23-18 at halftime and with 11:10 left to play held a 34-24 advantage. The Vikings then put together a 13-2 run and took a 37-36 lead with 6:47 remaining on a three point basket by senior

Pezzopane led Augustana in scoring with 17 points and she also hauled in eight rebounds. She was the lone Viking in double figures for the game. Junior
Andrea McNally (Hinsdale South HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds while VanRoeyen scored eight points and led the team with three steals.
Carthage put three players in double figures with Hahn leading the way with 17 points. Taylor Boardman scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Kleiner finished with 12 points and five assists.
Augustana won the rebounding battle by a margin of 36-31 but the Vikings shot just .283 (13-46) from the field, including only .250 (5-20) in the second half.
The Vikings are now 7-15 on the season and 1-10 in the CCIW while Carthage moved to 13-9 and 6-5. Augustana will host Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
