Augustana won 10 of 12 events and rolled past Loras (153-60) and Knox (158-38) on
Saturday, October 31 in the Carver Center Pool.ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Winning 10 of 12 events led to a pair of easy victories for the Augustana men's swimming & diving team on Saturday, October 31 at the Carver Pool. The Vikings defeated Loras 153-60 and Knox 158-38, winning 10 of 11 swimming events (eight individual and two relays).
Three Augustana swimmers were individual double winners in the meet. Freshman
Jared Ekberg (Rockford Christian HS, Rockford, Ill.) won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.44 and the 100 backstroke in :53.11. Senior
Adam Bernardi (Rockford Boylan Catholic HS, Belvidere, Ill.) won both distance freestyle events, winning the 1000 in 10:50.12 and the 500 in 5:12.08. For good measure he was also second in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.57. Freshman
Bryan Haage (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) won the 200 individual medley (2:05.65) and the 100 freestyle (:49.61).
The 200 medley relay won the first event of the meet in a time of 1:41.49. Senior
Felipe Hernandez (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.), junior
Ian Disteldorf (Brother Rice HS, Oak Forest, Ill.), sophomore
Chris Wilson (Bradford-on-Tone, United Kingdom) and freshman
Luke Herron (Vail Christian HS, Edwards, Colo.) were the members of that unit. Disteldorf won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.17 and Hernandez took second in the 100 backstroke in :56.57. Wilson was third in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.18 and Herron placed third in the 50 freestyle in :23.26.
Sophomore
Jacob Speechley (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) won the 50 freestyle in :22.40 and anchored the 400 freestyle relay to a winning time of 3:15.67 in the last event of the meet. He was joined on that relay by Ekberg, sophomore
Miguel Rodriguez (Rockford Boylan Catholic HS, Rockford, Ill.), Haage and Speechley. Rodriguez took second in both the 50 (:23.16) and 100 (:50.25) freestyles.
Senior
David Sommers (Westlake HS, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.28) and the 100 butterfly (:55.64). Sophomore
Victor Wagstrom (Stockholm, Sweden) was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.02. Freshman
Kyle Workman (Morrison HS, Morrison, Ill.) placed third in the 1000 freestyle in 11:32.79. Freshman
Brendan Walker (Tinley Park HS, Oak Forest, Ill.) was third in the 100 butterfly in :58.17. Sophomore
Mike Ramos (Lincoln-Way Central HS, New Lenox, Ill.) placed third in the 100 freestyle (:51.35) and junior
Bryce Dibadj (Glenbard West HS, Glen Ellyn, Ill.) finished third in the 500 freestyle (5:36.09).
