Vikings roll at Monmouth and Dubuque to remain unbeaten in dual meets

Coach Jon Miedema's Augustana women remained unbeaten in dual meets this season, rolling to 9-0 wins at Monmouth and Dubuque Tuesday. Miedema split his squad, with all 12 players on the roster logging both a singles and doubles appearance. The two wins bump the Vikings' dual-meet record to 10-0 in 2015-16. Augustana has now won 58 of 60 singles matches and all 30 of its doubles matches in dual meets this year. The Vikings will look to improve their 4-0 CCIW ledger on Saturday, October 10 when they visit Elmhurst at 10:00 a.m. and North Central at 3:00 p.m.

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Miedema's number one doubles team of senior Aileen MacDonald (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and Dana Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) got things started on the right foot with an 8-0 win over Scots Katherine Hinman and Liddy Wilson. Freshmen Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) and Maddie Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) were also 8-0 winners, besting Katy Tolsky and Annaliese McDermott at number two. At third doubles, sophomores DeJaneria Hartsfield (Metea Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) and Rachel Kammerzelt (Prairie School, Union Grove, Wis.), playing together for the first time this season, were 8-6 winners over Monmouth's Callie Cook and Morgan Holle.
 
In singles play, Dana Goggin improved to 9-1 this season with 6-0, 6-0 win over Hinman at number one and Wilson defaulted to MacDonald (5-2) at number two. At third singles, Schaffer (11-2) won one and one over McDermott and Lombardi (7-3) scored a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cook at number four. Kammerzelt (2-0) won love and love over Tolsky at number five. At sixth singles, Hartsfield (2-0) won her opening set 6-0, fell by the same score in the second, but rebounded with a 10-6 win in the third.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Augustana was in control the entire way at Dubuque's Farber Courts as well. Junior Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) and sophomore Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) were 8-2 winners over Arantxa Martinez and Marissa Joers at first doubles and juniors and former high school teammates Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) and Amy Even (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) won 8-3 over Megan Ranney and Mariah Scott at number two. Senior Lauren Kaczmarek (Glenbard South HS, Lombard, Ill.) and sophomore Macy Koepke (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) were 8-2 winners in their first match together this year. They defeated Spartans Taylor Fortmann and Naomi Bokela at number three.
 
Lauren Goggin defeated Martinez one and four at first singles to improve to 9-3 on the season. Magee (11-1) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Joers at number two and Andonova (6-1) was a love, love victor over Bokela at number three. Koepke (5-3) and Even (4-2) won at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Koepke downed Ranney 6-3, 6-0 and Even defeated Scott two and one. At number six, Kaczmarek improved to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Fortmann.
