Junior setter Hannah Lindaman had 24 assists and eight digs Tuesday, but Augustana fell in four
sets to 11th-ranked Carthage.ROCK ISLAND, Ill. –Augustana fell to #11 Carthage in the team's fifth conference matchup on Tuesday, October 13 at the Carver Center in Rock Island, Illinois. The Vikings lost with scores of 15-25, 21-25, and, 16-25, picking up a win in game three, 25-20. Augustana is now 1-4 in CCIW play and 8-12 overall. The Lady Reds improve to 2-1 in conference and 20-4 on the season.
Carthage struck a quick lead in the first game, setting the Vikings back with a score of 8-1. The Lady Reds went on to win game one 25-15. In game two, Augustana bit back, coming out of the gate with a score of 7-1. Unfortunately, the Lady Reds battled back, taking game two 25-21. The Vikings pushed in an intense game three winning 25-20 but fell in game four, 16-25.
On the offensive side of the ball, senior
Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) contributed 10 kills. Junior
Amy Kalkhoff had
(Clear Creek Amana HS, North Liberty, IA) nine kills and an impressive 23 digs.
Senior
Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) recorded 18 digs on the night.
Junior
Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) was credited with 24 assists and 12 digs. Senior
Jordan Hampel (Hilliard-Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) added nine.
Carthage's Karen Chin put up 32 assists. Luci Krenzke had 29 digs, and Stephanie Korbakes rounded things out with 14 kills.
Augustana is in action next this weekday in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Vikings will play Bethel on October 16 at 7:30 p.m. On October 17, Augustana takes on Central at 10:00 a.m. and Wisconsin-La Crosse at 12:30 p.m.
