Senior Martha Murray had 21 kills and 21 digs in Augustana's five-set loss to Wartburg Saturday.WAVERLY, Iowa - Augustana dropped two matches against Wartburg and Luther on Saturday, October 10 at the Wartburg College Volleyball Quad in Waverly, Iowa. The Vikings are now 8-11 on the season and will host Carthage on "Camper Night," Tuesday, October 13 at Carver Center.
Wartburg 3, Augustana 2, (25-21; 23-25; 25-19; 20-25; 15-11) After beating Wartburg in its home opener, Augustana took a loss to the Knights on their own court. The teams played a long five game match, with Wartburg taking game one 25-11, game three 25-19, and the critical game five 15-11. The Vikings won game two and game four with scores of 25-23 and 25-20.
Despite the tight loss, senior
Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) had an overall phenomenal match racking up 21 kills and 21 digs. Middle blocker
Maissie Musick (Central HS, Central Camp, Ill.) contributed 10 kills and six blocks, and
Jacqueline Kibir-Evans (Trinity HS, Forrest Park, Ill.) added 9 kills.
Senior libero
Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) picked up 21 digs and five assists.
Senior
Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) chipped in 28 assists, and junior
Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) was credited with 25.
The Knights' Krystal Graves had 16 kills, while Maria Brown accumulated 19 assists.
Luther 3, Augustana 0, (25-18; 25-19; 25-16) In match two of the day, junior
Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich), Kibir-Evans, and Musick led the team with five kills each.
Siebert delivered 14 digs, while Lindaman had nine.
Hampel dished out 17 assists, with Lindaman coming in closely behind with 15.
Luther's Anna Larson and Emma Veum each had nine kills, and Lindsey Ryan put up 29 assists.
