Carthage swimmers defeat Vikings 228-47

Senior Jamie Graf finished second in the 100 breaststroke and swam on a pair of third-
place relays Saturday in Augustana's dual meet loss at Carthage.

KENOSHA, Wis. – Freshman Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) led the way with a pair of second-place finishes Saturday as Augustana suffered a 228-47 loss to Carthage at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. Senior Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Putnam, Ill.) and junior Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.) also recorded second-place finishes as Coach Dan Lloyd's Vikings fell to 1-2 in dual meets this season.
 
Schoenecker swam an 11:48.27 in the 1000 freestyle and a 5:44.67 in the 500 freestyle, taking second in each event. Graf's runner-up finish came in the 100 breaststroke, where she recorded a time of 1:10.96. Johnson's 2:50.25 in the 200 breaststroke edged senior Laura Pemberton's (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) 2:50.63, as the Augustana pair finished 2-3.
 
Sophomore Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.) brought home a pair of third-place finishes, swimming a 1:04.03 in the 100 backstroke and a 2:25.35 in the 200 individual medley. Sophomore Brittney Crawford's (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) :58.30 in the 100 freestyle was also good for third place.
 
The Vikings also had a pair of third-place relay efforts. Patch, Graf, junior Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and freshman Sara Hovren (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) completed the 400 medley relay in 4:16.03 and Lloyd's 200 freestyle relay of Hovren, Graf, Crawford and freshman Nicole Olsen (Plainfield East HS, Romeoville, Ill.) finished in 1:47.04
 
On Saturday, January 31, Augustana will travel to Monmouth, Illinois for a dual meet with the Monmouth Scots. That contest is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
