Senior Chelsea Lavin teamed with sophomore Vicki
Andonova to pick up a victory at number two doubles in
Augustana's 9-0 win over Monmouth on September 7.
After dropping a tough 5-4 match to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin foe Carthage in the morning of September 6, Augustana bounced back with a strong 9-0 non-conference victory over Monmouth. The victory allowed head coach Jon Miedema's team to move to 4-1 in dual meets on the season and was played on the Lower Campus Courts.

Miedema was able to shuffle some new players into the lineup but the Vikings play was affected as they allowed just three points in doubles and dropped only 19 games in the singles portion of the match.

Sophomore Lauren Goggin (Buffalo Grove HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) teamed with freshman Mollie Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) to beat Annaliese McDermott and Katherine Hinman 8-2 at number one doubles. Senior Chelsea Lavin (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) and sophomore Vicki Andonova (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) beat Kimberly Hedgespeth and Katie Tolsky 8-1 at number two. The number three team of freshman Alyssa Reuter (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and sophomore Amy Even (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) blanked Morgan Holle and Amanda Buck 8-0 at number three.

Senior Miranda Pence (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) moved all the way up to number one singles and defeated Hinman 7-5; 6-1. Freshman Rachel Kammerzelt (The Prairie School, Union Grove, Wis.) slid into the number two slot and beat McDermott 7-6; 6-0. Freshman Macy Koepke (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) beat Tolsky 6-0; 6-0.

Junior Lauren Kaczmarek (Glenbard South HS, Lombard, Ill.) defeated Holle 6-0; 6-0 at number four. Freshman De'Janer Hartsfield (Metea Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) shut out Buck 6-0; 6-0 to take the number five singles match. Freshman Ninna Therese Mendoza (Milton HS, Janesville, Wis.) beat Cheyenne Groat 7-5; 6-3 at number six.

Augustana will play two non-conference matches on Sunday, September 7 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. The Vikings will face Cornell and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
