The Augustana women's swimming and diving team improved its dual meet record to 6-1 after swamping Coe on the Viking's Senior Night in Rock Island, Illinois on Friday, January 31. Coach Scott Johannsen's team won the meet by a score of 156-72 over the Kohawks and were victors in 12 of 13 events on the night.

Senior diver
Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) helped the Vikings by picking up a pair of victories in the diving events on the evening. She won the three-meter six-dive event with a score of 258.70. Myers scored 248.35 in the one-meter six-dive competition which not only was the highest score at the meet, but also the highest score in school history. Myers now holds all four school diving records each of which previously belonged to Tara Kallal since the mid-1990s.

Freshman
Michelle Johnson (Lockport Township HS, Homer Glen, Ill.) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.11 and was also the victor of the 1000 freestyle with a mark of 11:23.76. Johnson also swam the third leg of the second place 200 freestyle relay team (1:54.21) and was joined by
Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.),
Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.), and
Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.).

Crawford added a pair of third place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley with times of 1:08.57 and 2:27.20 respectively.
Jordan Johnson grabbed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.05) and third in the 50 freestyle (:28.11). Pemberton picked up a third place finish in the 200 freestyle clocking in at 2:14.04.

The 200 medley relay combination of
Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.),
Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Downers Grove, Ill.),
Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.), and
Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) took home first place with a time of 1:56.47.

Patch added a couple of individual victories coming in the 100 backstroke (1:02.69) and the 200 freestyle (2:05.61). Novak also took home a pair of individual victories on the night, first in the 200 individual medley (2:19.00) and then in the 100 butterfly (1:03.72). Graf took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.62) and also brought in third in the 1000 freestyle clocking a time of 12:02.34. Ferguson also contributed a pair of victories after finishing first in the 100 freestyle with a mark of :57.90 and the 50 freestyle (:25.86).

Katie Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) picked up a third place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:00.56) and also added a pair of fourth place finishes in the 50 freestyle (:28.46) and the 200 individual medley (2:35.58).
Alexis Thompson (Crystal Lake Central HS, Lake in the Hills, Ill.) took home third place in the 100 butterfly (1:18.16) and fourth place in the 100 backstroke (1:17.71).

Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) contributed points for the Vikings with a third place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:57.39) and a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle clocking in at 2:15.68.
Mackenzie Corrie rounded out the scoring for Augustana with a fourth place finish in the 100 breaststroke and sixth place in the 100 freestyle with times of 1:28.32 and 1:11.68 respectively.

The Vikings are in action again when they head to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Thursday, February 13 for the three-day College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships.
