Men's swimming swamps Coe to finish with 6-1 dual meet record.

The Augustana men's swimming and diving team concluded its dual meet schedule with a dominating 184-47 triumph over Coe on Friday, January 31 at the Carver Pool. Coach Scott Johannsen's Vikings were victors in all 13 events on "Senior Night".
 
Senior Daniel Hinck (Harlem HS, Loves Park, Ill.) took home a pair of individual victories on the night. He won the 100 freestyle in :50.03 and the 200 freestyle in 1:49.11 and was also a member of the first place 200 freestyle relay team (1:31.51). Accompanying Hinck on the relay team were Matthew Roche (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.), Ian Disteldorf (Brother Rice HS, Oak Forest, Ill.), and Aaron Holt (Mount Vernon HS, Mount Vernon, Ill.).
 
Roche also took home an individual victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of :23.09. Disteldorf grabbed first place in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.19. Holt finished first in the 100 backstroke event clocking in at :56.27. The combination of Roche, Disteldorf, and Holt teamed with David Sommers (Westlake HS, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) in the 200 medley relay for a first place finish with a time of 1:40.29.
 
Sommers was victorious in the 100 butterfly clocking in at :54.31 and also took third place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.23. Adam Bernardi (Boylan Catholic HS, Belvidere, Ill.) added a first place finish of his own in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:25.76. Felipe Hernandez (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) picked up a victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.73 and took home fourth in the 100 butterfly with a finish at 1:01.23.
 
Timothy Michaels (Pella HS, Pella, Iowa) won the 500 freestyle clocking in at 5:29.13. Michaels also took second in the 1000 freestyle (11:09.45) and third in the 100 freestyle (:52.68).
 
Josh Wielenga (School of Environmental Studies, Apple Valley, Minn.) pulled in the other two victories for the Vikings coming in both diving events. In the three-meter dive, Wielenga dove to a season's best score of 240.65. Wielenga also scored 232.75 points in the one-meter dive.
 
A number of Vikings swam to second place finishes on the night including Michael Duy (Marmion Academy, Aurora, Ill.) who picked up a pair of second place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:50.40) and the 100 freestyle (:50.63). Justin Reppy (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) took second in the 50 freestyle with a mark of :23.44. Alexander Putz (Oak Forest HS, Oak Forest, Ill.) also contributed a second place finish with his coming in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:29.76.
Austin Small (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) added a second place finish in the 100 backstroke clocking in at :59.06. Bryce Dibadj (Glenbard West HS, Glen Ellyn, Ill.) joined his teammates after finishing second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.49.Kyle Johnson (Shadow Mountain HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:10.78) and also added a  third place finish in the 100 backstroke (:59.48).
 
Additional Augustana point winners include Jasen Hengst (Bettendorf HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) who took third in the 100 butterfly with a time of :59.86 and also finished fourth in the 50 freestyle clocking in at :24.32. Ryan Chaney (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) took home fourth place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.27.
Robert Chaney (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) also added a fourth place finish in the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:07.09. Tim Durning (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) swam to fourth and fifth place finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:51.60) and 1000 freestyle (11:53.84) respectively.
 
Next up for the Coach Johannsen's team is the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships which are being held over the three-day span ranging from Thursday, February 13 through Saturday, February 15 at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
