Women's swimming defeats Loras 130-87

Augustana defeated Loras 130-87 in swimming & diving action on Friday, November 7 in 
the Carver Center.
Spreading the wealth around, Augustana rolled up a 130-87 victory over Loras on Friday, November 7 in the Carver Center for the first home meet of the Dan Lloyd-era as head coach. The Vikings won nine of the 13 events and had just one double winner – junior Megan McGregor (Lincoln-Way East HS, Mokena, Ill.). McGregor was a double victor in diving while Augustana also won both relays and six of the individual swimming races.
 
McGregor took the one meter diving event with a score of 146.18 and the three meter with 152.18.
 
The meet started on a good note for the Vikings when the 400 medley relay team of freshman Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.), freshman Sara Hovren (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.), junior Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and senior Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Putnam, Ill.) won in 4:17.97.
 
Sophomore Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.) won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.37 and later came back to take second in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.60. Freshman Nicole Olsen (Plainfield East HS, Romeoville, Ill.) won the 50 freestyle in :26.19 and was second in the 100 freestyle in :58.11.
 
Novak won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.44. After finishing second in the 50 freestyle to Olsen with a time of :26.62, Graf won the 100 freestyle in :58.08. Junior Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.39 and was third in the 50 freestyle in :27.58.
 
The 400 freestyle relay closed out the meet with a winning time of 3:49.27. Schoenecker handled the leadoff leg and was followed by Patch, Olsen and Novak.
 
Sophomore Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.19) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:24.73). Hovren placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.95 and third in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.26. Schoenecker finished third in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.09.
 
Freshman Elena McNab (Romeoville HS, Romeoville, Ill.) was third in the 1000 freestyle in 14:38.38 and freshman Lisa Pohlman-Zord (Lincoln-Way West HS, New Lenox, Ill.) took fourth in the 500 freestyle in 6:22.74.
