Coe's Ashley Stulken scored twice in the final 46 seconds to pull her team within four at the break. Jen VanWatermeulen (United Township HS, Silvis, Ill.) got Augustana within one, but the Kohawks responded with a 10-0 run to push their advantage to 53-42 with 14:09 to play. Back-to-back three-pointers by senior
Valerie VanRoeyen (Libertyville HS, Grayslake, Ill.) and Mayer got the Vikings to within 53-49, but another Coe run, this one 21-4, put the contest out of reach.
Pezzopane led the way for Augustana with a game-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds. McNally added 15 points, six boards and four assists without committing a turnover and Mayer finished with 11 points. VanWatermeulen was outstanding defensively, with five steals in just 19 minutes of action. The Vikings shot .393 for the game on 24 of 61 from the floor. They connected on eight of 16 three-point attempts, including three from Pezzopane and a pair from McNally, and were 11 of 17 (.647) from the foul line. Coe hit 21 of 30 shots from the field in the second half to finish 34-62 (.548) for the game. The Kohawks converted 11 of 24 (.458) trey attempts and won the battle of the boards 40-28. Augustana committed just nine turnovers to Coe's 15.
