LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Senior Josh Wielenga (School of Environmental Studies, Apple Valley, Minn.) won both diving events but it was not enough as Augustana dropped a 125-99 men's swimming & diving decision to Lake Forest on Sunday, November 16 in Lake Forest, Illinois. The Foresters won nine of the 13 events to hand the Vikings their first defeat of the 2014-15 campaign.
 
Wielenga won the one meter diving with a score of 233.0 points and he came back to win the three meter diving with 225.75 points.
 
The other Augustana victories came in the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke. Senior Aaron Holt (Mount Vernon HS, Mount Vernon, Ill.) took the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.32 and sophomore Ian Disteldorf (Brother Rice HS, Oak Forest, Ill.) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.03. Disteldorf also took second in the 100 freestyle in :57.26.
 
The 200 medley relay team of Holt, Disteldorf, freshman Chris Wilson (United Kingdom) and freshman Jacob Speechley (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) took second with a time of 1:51.22. The 200 freestyle relay of junior Felipe Hernandez (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.), Speechley, junior David Sommers (Westlake HS, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Holt also placed second with a time of 1:41.01.
 
Speechley was second in the 50 freestyle in :25.72 while junior Adam Bernardi (Rockford Boylan HS, Belvidere, Ill.) took second in the 400 freestyle in 4:28.60 and third in the 200 individual medley in 2:19.12. Sommers was second in the 100 butterfly in ;59.89 and fourth in 800 freestyle (9:42.08).
 
Wilson placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:05.96) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:00.54). Hernandez took third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.79) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:19.12). Senior Michael Duy (Marmion Academy, Aurora, Ill.) was third in the 400 freestyle in 4:31.61. Freshman Miguel Rodriguez (Rockford Boylan HS, Rockford, Ill.) placed third in the 100 freestyle in :57.30 and fourth in the 50 freestyle in :26.39. Sophomore Bryce Dibadj (Glenbard West HS, Glen Ellyn, Ill.) was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.92.
 
Senior Alexander Putz (Oak Forest HS, Oak Forest, Ill.) took fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:10.05) and fourth in the 400 freestyle (5:11.37).  In the 100 backstroke junior Kyle Johnson (Shadow Mountain HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) was fourth in 1:07.13 while senior Timothy Michaels (Pella HS, Pella, Ill.) placed fourth in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.45.
 
Augustana's next competition will be on Saturday, November 22 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational in Bloomington, Illinois.
