CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – In a battle between two nationally ranked teams, 29
th ranked Augustana fell to ninth ranked Coe 29-9 in Cedar Rapids on Friday, January 17. The Vikings, now 10-4 on the season, will get back in action again tomorrow at the Cornell Invitational.
Sophomore
Jimmy Panozzo (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) got things started in the right direction for Augustana with a 10-7 win over Jan Rosenburg at 125 pounds. Panozzo is now 15-6 on the year.
After freshman
Sean McMahon (Andrew HS, Tinley Park, Ill.) dropped a 14-3 decision at 133 to Jimmy Gotto, sophomore
Isaiah Schaub (St. Francis HS, Traverse City, Mich.) came up with a 7-2 win over Beau Westpfahl at 141 to put the Vikings in the lead 6-4. Schaub now leads the team in victories with a 23-5 mark.
Coe ripped off victories in the next five matches, however, to take control of the match and it wasn't until the 197 pound weight class that Augustana could post its next win. That came when senior
Hunter Feraco (Gull Lake HS, Battle Creek, Mich.) upped his person mark to 18-13 with a 6-4 win over Donnie Horner.
