ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana volleyball team took down William Penn and Carroll Tuesday night at Carver Center. The Vikings beat the Statesmen in three sets and defeated Carroll in four to improve to 8-3 on the season.
Augustana 3, William Penn 0 (25-19; 25-19; 25-22)
Augustana finished off the Statesmen in straight sets in the evening's opening match. After losing the first point, the Vikings won the next three and led the rest of the way in a 25-19 win. They took the second set by the same score and came back after falling behind 7-2 in the third to win 25-22. Augustana improved to 7-3 with the win, while William Penn dropped to 8-11.
Sophomore
Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) and junior
Hailee Brayton (St. Bede Academy, La Salle, Ill.) led the Augustana attack with eight kills apiece. Senior
Morgan Stittleburg (Black River Falls HS, Black River Falls, Wis.) and freshman
Laura Hedden (Illinois Valley Central HS, Chillicothe, Ill.) had five each.

Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) had a team-high 15 assists to go along with 18 digs. Sophomore
Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) added 12 assists.
Sophomore
Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) led the Vikings with 20 digs, but had plenty of support in that area from Lindaman, as well as freshman
Amy Kalkhoff (Clear Creek Amana HS, North Liberty, Iowa) and junior
Julee Morrison (Chaparral HS, Scottsdale, Ariz.) who recorded 13 and 10, respectively.
Junior
Samantha Kammerman (Sherrard HS, Milan, Ill.) recorded three service aces for the Vikings.
Augustana 3, Carroll 1 (25-18; 25-22; 10-25; 25-22)
The hosts rallied from down 18-12 to pull out a 25-22 win in the fourth and final set. Freshman
Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurch, Ill.) finished off the Pioneers with her seventh kill of the match. Augustana won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22. Carroll rolled to a 25-10 win in the third before the Vikings rallied to take the fourth.
Murray led Coach Jamie Walters' club with a dozen kills and junior
Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) added 10. Hampel had a team-high 22 assists with Lindaman adding 12.
Siebert had 28 digs and a pair of aces. Hampel added 12 digs and Kalkhoff 10. Junior
Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) saw her first action of the season, recording a kill and eight digs.
On Friday, September 20, the Vikings travel to Pella, Iowa to take on Central in a 7:30 p.m. match.
