Vikings fall to Westminster in four sets

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana suffered its first loss of the season Saturday morning, falling in four sets to Westminster at the Viking Classic at Carver Center. The Blue Jays took the first set 25-13 and edged the hosts 25-22 in the second. The Vikings rebounded to take the third 25-18, but fell 25-12 in the fourth and final set.
 
Junior Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) and sophomore Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) led Augustana with 10 kills each. Sophomore Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) had a team-high 21 assists and freshman Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) chipped in with 10. Freshman Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich, Ill.) had 13 digs, while sophomore Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) added 10.
 
Riley Lawrence led Westminster with nine kills and Lexi Collier added eight. Kayla Reeg had 25 assists and Caroline Will recorded 18 digs.
 
The Vikings, now 2-1 on the season, finish up play at the Viking Classic with a 2:00 p.m. match on Saturday, August 31 against Loras at Carver Center.
