DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Augustana women's swimming & diving team was victorious in 10 of 13 events en route to a 156-83 win over Loras to open the 2013-14 dual meet season on Friday, November 8 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Senior
Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) claimed individual victories in both the 50 freestyle (:25.87) and the 100 freestyle (:57.70) events. She also swam the final leg of the victorious 400 medley relay team which finished with a time of 4:09.54. Ferguson was joined by
Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.),
Emma Shie (Central HS, Davenport, Ill.), and
Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.).
Shie joined Ferguson in winning two individual events with top performances in the 200 IM (2:21.58) and the 200 breaststroke (2:35.26). Novak was victorious in the 200 butterfly finishing with a time of 2:24.02 and also claimed second in the 200 freestyle (2:03.56). Patch took home second place in the 200 backstroke (2:23.06) and swam the final leg for the second place 400 freestyle relay team (3:56.63).
Michelle Johnson (Lockport Twp. HS, Homer Glen, Ill.) was triumphant in both the 1000 freestyle (11:14.07) and the 500 freestyle (5:33.24) and swam the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay.
Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) won the one meter and three meter diving events with scores of 155.90 and 239.55 respectively.
Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) finished second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:09:07 and fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:58.88). Abby Bean
(Carl Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) finished second in the 50 freestyle in :27.42.
Adelia Clark (Linn Mar HS, Marion, Iowa) took second in the one meter dive with a 144.55 performance and also took second in the three meter dive with 200.45 points.
Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:39.69) and third in the 200 IM (2:27.39) as well as swimming the third leg of the second place 400 freestyle relay.
Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) was the fourth member of the second place 400 freestyle relay team, swimming the second leg. She also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (1:01.11).
Megan McGregor (Lincoln-Way East HS, Mokena, Ill.) took third in the one meter and three meter diving events with 129.90 and 187.65 points respectively. Kenzie Mears
(Mahtomedi HS, Mahtomedi, Minn.) placed third in the 100 freestyle event with a time of 1:00.08 and fourth in the 50 freestyle (:27.55).
Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) had two fourth place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (12:32.77) and the 200 backstroke (2:33.69) as well as a fifth place finish in the 200 IM (2:34.93).
Katie Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) also had two fourth place finishes on the day, in both the 200 freestyle (2:15.58) and the 200 butterfly (2:40.70).
Alexis Thompson (Central Lake Central HS, Lake in the Hills, Ill.) finished fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:58.08.
Mackenzie Corrie (Midland HS, Charleston, Ill.) took home fifth in the 500 freestyle (6:44.41).
Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.) also added a fifth place finish in the 200 breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:53.30).
The Vikings next meet will be Saturday, November 9 at home against Morningside and Lake Forest in the Carver Center.
