DECORAH, Iowa – Freshman Michelle Johnson (Lockport Township HS, Homer Glen, Ill.) was victorious in two events Saturday, November 16 in Decorah, Iowa to help Coach Scott Johannsen's Augustana women's swimming and diving team split dual meets with Luther and Simpson.  The Vikings fell to Luther 171-69 for their first dual loss of the season but beat Simpson by a score of 180-34.
 
Johnson finished first in the 1650 freestyle in a time of 18:47.17 and also won the 500 freestyle (5:29.80). She also swam the third leg of the second place 400 freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 3:51.51. Emma Shie (Central HS, Davenport, Iowa) took home a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.22) along with a fourth place finish in the 400 individual medley (5:09.63) and fifth place in the 100 butterfly (1:06.57).
 
Joining Johnson on the second place 400 freestyle relay team was Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.) who swam the first leg of the event and also added fourth place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:07.10) and the 100 freestyle (:58.02) events. Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.) swam the second leg of the second place 400 freestyle relay team. She also took second in the 400 individual medley (4:54.50) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:04.65). Rounding out the 400 freestyle relay team was senior Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) who also took second in the 50 freestyle event (:25.87) and third in the 100 freestyle with a time of :57.24.
 
Senior diver Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) finished second in both the one meter dive with a score of 236.35 and the three meter dive with 246.15 points.
 
The 400 medley relay team finished third with a time of 4:42.84. Swimming in order were Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.), Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.), Katie Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.), and Mackenzie Mears (Mahtomedi HS, Mahtomedi, Minn.).
 
Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) took fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.72. Junior Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) swam the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:14.73, finishing fifth in the event.
 
The Augustana women's swimming and diving team is in action again this weekend with a meet at Monmouth Friday, November 22 at 6:30 p.m. as well as a meet at Illinois Wesleyan Saturday, November 23 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
