ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – With
Aaron Holt (Mount Vernon HS, Mount Vernon, Ill.) a winner in three events Saturday, Coach Scott Johannsen's Augustana men's swimming and diving team spilt dual meets with Morningside and Lake Forest at Carver Pool. The Vikings bested Morningside by a score of 146-76 and fell to Lake Forest 120-110. Now 2-1 in dual meets, they travel to Luther on Saturday, November 16 to face the Norse.
Holt was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:03.96) and 100 backstroke (:53.91) and led off Augustana's winning 200 medley relay, which finished in 1:39.02. He was joined on the 200 medley unit by freshman
Ian Disteldorf (Brother Rice HS, Oak Forest, Ill.), sophomore
David Sommers (Westlake HS, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and senior
Daniel Hinck (Harlem HS, Loves Park, Ill.).
Sommers also joined junior
Josh Wielenga (School of Environmental Studies) as individual winners for the Vikings. Wielenga won the one-meter diving competition with 235.80 points, while Sommers took the 100 butterfly in :52.46. Each garnered a second-place finish as well, with Wielenga's 226.65 at three meters and Sommers' 1:48.79 in the 200 freestyle.
Senior
Justin Reppy (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) brought home a pair of seconds in the 1000 (10:21.81) and 500 (5:00.97) freestyles.
Disteldorf and sophomore
Felipe Hernandez (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) took second place in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, respectively. Disteldorf finished in 1:01.89 and Hernandez in :50.61. In addition, Hernandez led off Augustana's second-place 200 freestyle relay, joining sophomore
Adam Bernardi (Boylan Catholic HS, Belvidere, Ill.), junior
Michael Duy (Marmion Academy, Aurora, Ill.) and Reppy. That group finished in 1:31.29.
Hinck took third place in both the 50 (:22.95) and 100 (:50.69) freestyles. Duy was third in the 200 freestyle (1:50.40) and fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:06.81), while Bernardi garnered the same spots in the 1000 freestyle (10:25.83) and 100 butterfly (:56.53).
Sophomores
Kyle Johnson (Shadow Mountain HS, Phoenix, Ariz.) and
Austin Small (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 backstroke with times of :57.90 and 1:00.57. Hernandez finished fifth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.72.
