Volleyball falls twice at St. Mary's Tournament

WINONA, Minn. – Augustana dropped a pair of matches on Friday at the St. Mary's Tournament in Winona, Minnesota to fall to 10-6 on the season. The Vikings fell to Augsburg 3-0 in the first round and then fell to Dubuque 3-1 in the second round.
 
AUGSBURG 3, AUGUSTANA 0 (25-17; 26-24; 26-15)
 
The Vikings came close in the second game but were swept by a 17-2 Augsburg club 3-0 in the first round of the St. Mary's Invitational in Winona, Minnesota. Augsburg won the first set 25-17 and then took a hard-fought second set 26-24 before closing out the match with a 25-16 win in the third.
 
Junior Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) led the Vikings on offense with nine kills and she had nine digs and a blocking assist. Senior Morgan Stittleburg (Black River Falls HS, Black River Falls, Wis.) had seven kills and a dig while junior Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) picked up six kills and a dig.
 
Sophomore Jordan Hampel (Hilliard-Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) led the team in setting assists with 14 while freshman Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) had 13. Lindaman had two service aces and four digs while Hampel had a service ace and five digs.
 
Sophomore Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had nine digs and junior Julee Morrison (Chaparral HS, Scottsdale, Ariz.) had seven digs.
 
DUBUQUE 3, AUGUSTANA 1  (25-22; 26-24; 23-25; 25-15)
 
For the second time this season Augustana fell to the Spartans, this time by a score of 3-1 as opposed to 3-2 back on September 10 in Dubuque, Iowa. Dubuque won the first set 25-22 and took the second 26-24 before the Vikings rallied for a 25-23 win in game three. The Spartans closed out the match 25-15 in the fourth.
 
Senior Morgan Stittleburg (Black River Falls HS, Black River Falls, Wis.) and sophomore Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) each had 12 kills. Stittleburg also had a dig and an assisted block while Murray had an assist, a service ace and 21 digs.
 
Freshman Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich, Ill.) and junior Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) had seven kills apiece and junior Samantha Kammerman (Sherrard HS, Milan, Ill.) picked up six and had two assisted blocks.
 
Sophomore Jordan Hampel (Hilliard-Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) had 20 assists and freshman Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) was credited with 17. Hampel picked up four service aces and Lindaman two. Sophomore Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had 21 digs and junior Julee Morrison (Chaparral HS, Scottsdale, Ariz.) had 12.  Morrison also had a pair of service aces.
