Volleyball falls to Carthage in three sets

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Two point losses in the first and third sets proved to be too much to overcome as Augustana fell to Carthage 3-0 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin volleyball action on Tuesday, October 29 in the Carver Center. The Vikings rallied from a big deficit in game one before falling 25-23 and then lost game two 25-13. The third set went to the Lady Reds by a score of 26-24.
 
Junior Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) led the offense for Augustana with eight kills and she also had a dig and an assisted block. Sophomore Martha Murray (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) chipped in with five kills and had 10 digs. Junior Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) put down four kills and had 15 digs with one block solo and one service ace. Junior Hailee Brayton (St. Bede Academy, LaSalle, Ill.) and junior Samantha Kammerman (Sherrard HS, Milan, Ill.) each had four kills as well.
 
Sophomore Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) had 16 setting assists and sophomore Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) posted 17 digs. Freshman setter Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) had nine setting assists and 13 digs.
 
Augustana is now 16-13 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW while Carthage moves to 20-10 and 4-2. The Vikings will play Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wheaton on Saturday, November 2 in Wheaton, Illinois.
