Vikings fall to Central in four sets

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – In its second Pumpkin Bash match of the day Friday at Carver Center, the Augustana volleyball team suffered a four-set defeat at the hands of Central.  The Vikings fall to 15-11 on the year, while the Dutch improve to 10-19. Tournament play wraps up Saturday, October 26, at the Pepsico Recreation Center.
 
The teams were playing for the third time this season, having split two previous meetings. Augustana held a 24-21 lead in the opening set, but couldn't hang on, eventually falling 31-29. The teams traded 25-18 wins in sets two and three before Central won 25-20 in the fourth.
 
Junior Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) led the Vikings with 16 kills while classmate Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) added 12. Sophomore Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) had 28 assists and freshman Hannah Lindaman (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa) chipped in with 18.
 
Sophomore Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had a team-high 35 digs, with Leazer (17), Hampel (14) and freshman Nicole Morrissey (Lake Zurich HS, Lake Zurich, Ill.) (10) in double figures as well. Junior Samantha Kammerman (Sherrard HS, Milan, Ill.) led the way with five blocks.
 
On Saturday, the Vikings face Simpson at noon and Coe at 4:00 p.m. at Pepsico.
