Lettered in 1965-66-67-68…CCIW champion in 400 and pole vault in 1965…CCIW champion in javelin in 1966…CCI champion in javelin in 1967…CCIW champion in javelin and 1600 relay in 1968…School record holder in both pole vault (13' 5") and javelin (219' 8") at time of graduation…Also was part of school record sprint medley relay team (3:27.5 in 1968) and distance medley relay team (10:36.2 in 1967)…Held CCIW record in pole vault (13' 3 1/4" in 1965) and mile relay (3:21.2 in 1968)…Held Viking Olympic record in javelin (195' 10" in 1967)…Helped team win CCIW titles in 1965, 1967 and 1968 and place second in 1966…Vikings were 21-4 in dual meets…In 1968 placed sixth in javelin at Central Collegiate Conference Track & Field championships (mostly division one teams)…Was fourth in 1967 CCC javelin…Won javelin at 1966 NCAA Mideast Regional held in Rock Island with toss of 186' 8", beating Brian Oldfield of Middle Tennessee State (Oldfield would later go on to hold the world record in the shot put)…As of today he still has the second best javelin throw in Augustana history…In football in 1968 he was second in NAIA District 20 in punting with a 38.6 average…PERSONAL: Resides in Fort Collins, Colorado where he has been a school teacher in the Poudre School District for the last 30 years…For the past 13 years he has been working with bi-lingual students with a focus on Spanish literacy…Married to the former Susan Klibbe, Jim has three children (Joshua, Angela and Cassandra) and one grandchild (Haden)…He has a Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado…JIM OGAN ON HIS AUGUSTANA YEARS: "When my mom and dad dropped me off in a snowstorm in January of 1965 in front of Carlsson Hall my father told me that in many ways these would be the best four years of my life. He was right."
