Augustana College Athletics

Hjalmer Berg, who graduated in 1920, had a very unique athletic career at Augustana.  His career actually spanned eight years with him playing basketball at Augie while still in high school, to leaving for the military and then coming back to play for two more years.  He earned four varsity letters in both football and basketball and two letters in track. 

As an offensive lineman on the Viking football team, Berg earned both All-Conference and All-State honors.  In 1930 Berg was picked to the All-time All-Augustana football team selected by the Observer and coaching staff.  Berg earned his way into the Hall of Honor through his caliber as an outstanding three-sport performer.
