Augustana College Athletics

Clarence Henry “Bus” Thoman, a 1933 graduate was described by a newspaper writer as “one of Augustana’s truly superlative athletes.”  Thoman participated in multiple sports including football, basketball, baseball, and track. 

Thoman earned 11 letters as a football back, basketball forward, outfielder in baseball, and track sprinter.  He was elected Captain of the basketball team his senior year.  He was also selected to the Illinois College All-Conference and All-State football and basketball teams.  It is easy to see that Thoman is a worthy member of Augustana’s Hall of Honor.
