Augustana College Athletics

Clarence "Shorty" Barnes was a four year regular on the football team from 1924 to 1927.  He was elected to the Mythical All-Augustana first team in 1930.  In one game he ran for 215 yards, more than the entire opposition and scored all three touchdowns, one touchdown coming from a 90 yard pass interception. 

Barnes was also a member of the basketball team which won the Conference Championship in 1924.  He was also the first President of the Tribe of Vikings in 1926-1927.  Barnes is a worthy member of the Tribe of Vikings Hall of Honor.
